Report a correction
Spotted a tipped wage that changed, a state that enacted (or repealed) a tips deduction, or a result that looks wrong? Tell us here. This is the only way to reach the editorial team, and every report is read.
Useful reports name the state and tax year, quote the figure you think is wrong, and link to the official source that shows the right one — a state labor department announcement, a revenue department notice or a session law. We cannot answer personal tax questions or intervene in a wage dispute; for those, the agency listed on your state’s page is the right contact.
What changes, and when
Most corrections we receive are timing problems, so it helps to know the calendar we work to. Inflation-indexed states announce January 1 tipped wages between late summer and December — California in August, Ohio and Maine in the autumn, Connecticut by October 15. The District of Columbia, Oregon and Alaska change rates on July 1, and Florida on September 30. The IRS publishes next year’s brackets in October or November, and state legislatures change tax treatment mostly between January and June. If you see an official announcement before we do, the corrections form is the fastest way to get it onto the site.
Where to go instead
For a question about your own return, start with the IRS instructions for Schedule 1-A or your state revenue department — each state page links the agency. If you believe an employer underpaid you, the state labor agency listed on your state page takes wage claims, and the U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division handles claims under the federal tip-credit rules in states without their own minimum wage law. We cannot review pay stubs or contact employers.
What we store: the page, the kind of problem, your message and the reply address if you give one, with the date. We do not store your IP address or browser details. See privacy.
