No Tax on Tips Calc

Privacy

The numbers you type — tips, income, hours, wages — are calculated in your browser and are never sent to us. If you share a result, those inputs travel in the part of the link after “#”, which browsers do not send to any server.

What we record

Page events. Each page load sends one small anonymous event to our own server at /e, and the calculator sends a few more: that a calculation started, that it completed, which state was selected, that a share button was used, that someone clicked through to a state page or an official source, and that a page was scrolled to the end. Each event stores the page path (never the query string or the “#” part), the event name, the state abbreviation where relevant, a random number that groups events from one page view and is not kept on your device, the referring site’s host name, a mobile/desktop flag, and the country our hosting provider reports for the request. We do not store your IP address, your browser’s user-agent string, cookies or any identifier that follows you between visits. Automated traffic is discarded.

Correction reports. If you use the corrections form we store the page, the kind of problem, your message, the optional reply address you choose to give, and the date. Nothing else is attached.

What we don’t do

No advertising networks, analytics vendors, social widgets, fonts or scripts from other companies load on this site, so no third party sees your visit through us. We set no cookies and use no local storage for tracking. We do not sell or share data. The event records exist to tell us whether the calculator actually works for visitors — for example, whether people who open a state page finish a calculation.

Where it lives and for how long

Events and reports are stored in a database run by our hosting provider, Cloudflare, under the publisher’s account. Event records are aggregate in nature and kept as long as they are useful for that purpose; correction reports are kept until resolved and then archived. To ask about or delete a correction report you sent, write to us through the same form and include the reply address you used.
